Get Involved and Have Fun

If you like volunteering, Public Television and meeting people– you'll love being a WQPT/PBS Ambassador.

Going into our tenth year, the WQPT/PBS Ambassador program is an opportunity for college students to represent public television at a variety of events throughout eastern Iowa and western Illinois.

Our Ambassador program is an opportunity for regional college students to get professional experience by representing WQPT. Its a fun and rewarding experience. Ambassadors are a more highly trained extension of the WQPT volunteer force representing the station at fairs, community and fund-raising events and on television.

WQPT Wins Grassroots Advocacy Award

WQPT received the Grassroots Advocacy Award for 2013 from the National Friends of Public Broadcasting (NFPB) for our WQPT/PBS Ambassador program. A part of the mission of NFPB is to showcase outstanding public broadcasting volunteers, volunteer-led programs, and volunteer program managers from across the nation. Read more

"WQPT understands the importance of being active in the community and that it can be difficult to do so with a very small staff.  WQPT relies on Student Ambassadors to represent WQPT in its community to build reading, science and math skills through WQPT programming.  The Student Ambassadors bring the best resources from PBS Kids to the Quad City region through workshops, school visits, library activities and special events.  These resources provide support for parents, teachers and caregivers who touch the lives of children and strengthen the community's future."
