Attendees from the 36th Annual National Stearman Fly-In (which takes place September 3–9 in Galesburg, Illinois) will be flying in for this special breakfast. The 2007 theme of the Stearman event honors the women pilots of WWII. The planes will take off at dawn from the Galesburg Municipal Airport and land at the Davenport Municipal Airport.
World War II artifacts provided by the Arsenal Museum and Putnam Museum will be on display along with large screen televisions previewing Ken Burns’ extraordinary documentary “The War” scheduled to begin airing Sunday, September 23 at 7:00 p.m. on WQPT. Breakfast will be available for a $5.00 fee (while it lasts)
“The purpose of the event is to kick off the 14 ½ hour Ken Burns documentary “The War” and to honor the contributions made by these World War II-era biplane trainers and the people who flew them,” said Lora Adams of WQPT.
Supporters of the Dawn Patrol Breakfast are Carver Aero, Inc., Davenport Municipal Airport, Panera Bakery, Davenport Composite Squadron, Ken Hopper, Steve Robinson, Mark Godsil and the 36th Annual National Stearman Fly-In.
