WQPT PBS Ambassadors are a highly trained extension of the WQPT volunteer force. Regional college students have fun engaging with the public in a variety of settings like Imagination Station and other station events and activities.
Since 2004, the program has provided more than 200 students hands-on experience in the fields of event planning, education, marketing, public affairs, and much more. This invaluable opportunity allows students to gain real world experience while representing one of America's most trusted brands—Public Television—and WQPT.
WQPT PBS Ambassadors have come from numerous regional colleges and universities, including: Augustana College, Black Hawk College, Illinois College, Illinois State University, Kaplan University, Northern Illinois University, Scott Community College, St. Ambrose University, University of Iowa, Monmouth College and Western Illinois University.
WQPT PBS Ambassadors are selected in the Spring of each year.

"WQPT PBSunderstands the importance of being active in the community and that it can be difficult to do so with a very small staff. The station relies on student ambassadors to represent WQPT in its community (and throughout the region) to build reading, science and math skills through WQPT programming. Student ambassadors bring outstanding resources from PBS Kids to the Iowa-Illinois region through workshops, school visits, library activities and special events. These resources provide support for parents, teachers and caregivers who touch the lives of children and strengthen the region's future."
