Providing free books to children whose families cannot afford them or might otherwise not have access to.

Since 1995, WQPT PBS First Book initiative has distributed more than 450,000 books. The goal of First Book is to provide equal access to quality education for kids in need. WQPT PBS works with schools and literacy programs throughout the region to distribute these books to children who are from low literate, low income, English as second language, rural and/or families with special needs.
